If any of you guys are planning to go to the leven on opening day tomorrow or later on in the week, locals have said that there are lots of fish moving at the renton area. They said they look like farmers rather than kelts. good luck and tightlines Ryan

Off to a flyer on Saturday - a cracking 14 lb (based on length) cock salmon from the Glebe around 2 p.m. Not sure if it was a very well-mended kelt or a farmer (unlikely a springer). It was fin-perfect and silver (not tinny) but not torpedo-enough to be a springer. I wasn't expecting anything so I didn't take my camera . I had some doubts so it was returned and bolted off with a splash. Any other reports of fish taken ? I was fishing a floater with a 15 ft very fast sink tip. It took the fly below (from Glasgow Field Sports) - a silver bottle tube using a Frodin tube single. I think this tube single does the fish less damage, hooks well but is easily removed. Also, if it is fished with the hook point up as shown there is less of a problem with snagging. cheers, Tom

AA,
Not this one - it caught my eye in the shop when I was in for something else - I think we do anything to fish with more confidence/anticipation. Early doors in the season I like to fish yellow/black - its given me fish in the past.
cheers,
Tom

D-Loop, where did you catch the fish on Sat as the robbie redball site says you caught it below Renton bridge ?

Lomond,
My mistake - it was on the bend just downstream of the Renton Footbridge. Still getting used to the names of the pools on the Leven.
cheers,
Tom
