Does anyone know how the Doon is fishing at the moment ? I know the water level is pretty low, but I thought there may still be fish pushing through given it is getting later in the year. I fished the Doon during the first week in October, and there was a pretty decent run of fish running through, albeit the water height was higher than it is now. I'm planning a visit to the Doon this Friday, but since there's no rain forecast for the next few days I'm not sure if it's worth making the trip. Any info much appreciated.

River is running at comp flow as you would expect. There are lots of stale fish, which are hard going, but I did hear of a sealicer caught at Holmes this week, so there must still be some running in. Heres hoping for a flood before the end of the season.

Got a fish this afternoon in the lower river. Lots of fish in the pools but the fishing was hard going with leaves on the fly every third cast at least. It was raining hard this afternoon and with the forecast there is certain to be a big dirty spate tomorrow. I reckon there will be big catches Mon to the season end on wed.

Fished from first light this morning til dusk, nothing doing. The Doon is still pretty low for this time of year. The rain started at luchtime, so hopefully the last couple of days of the season will bring in some fresh fish. Plenty of coloured fish showing today, but no takers unfortunately. The leaves were a real nuisance all day, I think that cold snap earlier in the week may have brought them down quicker. Anyway, another season finished for me on the Doon...roll on 2008
