I am off on my first Salmon trip on the Dee in February. I am new to salmon fishing and Spey casting.
I am comtemplating the purchase of a new salmon rod. I have been advised that I will need a 15ft 10/11. I will be chucking sinking lines and tubes around for springers.
Is the above OK as a first rod??? Sportsmail have them at £100.
Cheers
Jon

Jon, check out the Shakespeare Oracle IV. John Norris have them for £75. A very very good rod at the price.
If you're new to salmon fishing I wouldn't worry too much at first about the sinking lines etc. Get yourself a decent floating line and learn to cast first with that. On the Dee you'll probably get away with a sinking tip on the end to get down to the fish. Don't be too ambitious, its February- your nuts will be frozen in any case!
Tight lines

The oracle is the one to get. I would start with a DT worcestershire and a fast-sink polyleader at least to start with.
