So you would rule out the possibility of the material being changed by the factory?
I find it difficult to believe that I could have worn the rod out with my limited amount of salmon fishing days per year (few dozen annually, at most). But that has surely come to my mind also... just would not like to believe it.

So you would rule out the possibility of the material being changed by the factory? Well I finally made a decision and decided to get the 15' 9/10 Norway 3-piece. Bought it from Fawcetts who said over the phone that they had the "new 2007 B&W range of rods". Rod looks cosmetically the same as my 14' Norway, but as Graham suggests above, perhaps they use different suppliers of resin and carbon fibre? Managed a few casts on the river after work today and I was really impressed with the rod. Perhaps I've discovered the secret of learning to cast- learn to cast with a Hardy Gem and it'll be a doddle when you get a Norway. ;D

Hi,i had my Norway 10/11 out for the first time on sat, using a Rio windcutter 10/11 sinktip, and i must say i wasn't overly impressed until that is i put a carron 75ft intermediate, also tried the same line (floater),and the difference is like night&day, once i get more practice & a better feel for the rod ill eradicate all my feelings of i wish I'd bought a 15 ft guideline.

I tried my 9/10 Norway with a 9/10/11 and a 10/11/12 windcutter - worked best with the 9/10/11, but also managed the 10/11/12 fine.
I hear the 10/11 Norway is a much more powerful rod than the 9/10, perhaps you need to try a 11/12/13 windcutter?
Having said that, I'll be using longer heads with this rod.

Hi Elwayman, the Rio was medium head, possibly cast better with a longer head, and sinktips don't help my casting either,I'm very happy with the carron lines,a lot of line out the tip ,but I'm impressed.

Just have to say that the Norway 16'#9/10 teamed with a 75' Carron 10/11 is a dream to fish with . Its a shame that they don't put the line on a spool for loading onto your reel ,but thats a minor quibble Now got too find a big cheap Hardy Perfect to complete the outfit ,or more System 2 # big one spools

. Its a shame that they don't put the line on a spool for loading onto your reel ,but thats a minor quibble At a pound per foot, the least Carron could do is include a spool of some description with the line. Even then it would still represent a heck of an expensive piece of string; even if one takes the decent performance of the line into account. mjm

Has anyone tried the new 4-piece Norway? I was thinking of getting a 15' and think the 9/10 3-piece reports here are very helpful. Is the 4-piece 15' #10 a good rod - any views? I thought I saw something on here about thw 4-piece, but can't find it.
Cheers

I recently bought a 16ft Norway on ebay, but it didn't have a bag - anyone know where I can get a cloth bag and/or a tube for a 3 piece 16ft rod - it doesn't have to be B&W. Thanks.

Norways don't come with a tube, but I got a B&W tube from Fawcetts for about £20.
You could try ringing B&W for a tube and a bag, they are usually helpful.
Sportfish and others do tubes as well.

Hi
Best ring B&W.
The rods are a little longer in the handle and do not fit many tubes designed for 15 ' rods.
