Is the 9/10 more of a 10/11 and the 10/11 more of an 11/12. Not sure where I got this from but a friend has just ordered a 10/11 and is worried that his 10/11 lines will be to light. Thanks You wouldn't be talking about Tony by any chance ?

Thats right Dave, saw him yesterday and apparently he ordered a 10/11. I thought this would be to heavy for his existing lines. Maybe an expert would be able to generate a bit more line speed and manage but maybe not us mere mortals.
Any thoughts on getting together yet
Alan

Thought it sounded like Tony, I told him the other week that he would be better off with the 9/10. Thats what Andrew uses along with the Carron 75ft 10/11 and its a superb match.
Im sure Andrew will be along later to give his comments.
I will speak to Andrew later with regards to a get together to try out different rod/line combo's but i'm sure him and Tris will be up for it.

Its a textbook match, which has been aired a few times on various threads. I find the IG Intermediate 10/11 an even more enjoyable set up to cast with, even than the Carron.
Would be up for a bit of testing sometime. Once i've caught a springer though and got off the mark. This is the week ;D

Andrew, thought you might have got off the mark over the weekend with the increase in temps.

Didn't get out. Levels were ok on Sat but to dirty. And Sunday, well, white water rafting might have been better.
Hoping to go out on N Tyne tomorrow afternoon on our bit, great in big water. Then maybe Chesters on Sat if there are any rods.

We live so near to Hardys factory and Ive always wanted to own one as much for local tradition as anything (or maybe its the "perfect seconds" they sell for less than half RRP) ........... Springer Coming from Newcastle originally, I can understand your affinity to Hardy tackle. Your comment about 'perfect seconds' possibly explains the growing market on ebay for 'new/unused' hardy rods and reels, usually last year's model, at bargain prices? Most sellers are from Northumberland!

Alnwick, rip off capitol of the fishing world and has been for around a hundred years. One from a Hardy's rep. They just love selling fly lines because they only cost Hardy's 40p EACH. The truth is that flylines cost buttons to produce and the profits are astronomical.

In defense of Hardy's I think "rip off" is a bit strong. Their rods are expensive and personally dont suit my style of casting but the quality of components used and the always perfect finish along with the best customer services in the business makes justification easier. As for 40p fly lines well dosnt that apply to all lines manufacturers? How many more Ian Gordon lines will be sold than Hardys this year? Does that make Partridge even worse?

Hardy used to, quite rightly, have a reputation for producing the best and finest quality fishing tackle. However, they have tried to trade on that reputation and have let the market bypass them. Can they still justify the price tag, when there is so much quality being offered at reasonable, realistic prices?
