Hi all!
Theres a few Hexagraph rods on ebay just now - how would you describe their action? Are they soft and sloppy or steely? How do they compare to the B&W Powerlite rods? Would they be good for the welsh dee or speyside avon in summer?
Any advice much appreciated - JJ

There is nothing wrong with a Hexagraph rod, but they are very slow in action compared to the way that modern rods have been progressing. I still know anglers that use them, but they were designed a while ago, before the advent of modern line profiles and are, therefore, a bit out of date with regards line ratings and casting styles.
Compared to modern rods they are heavy and, unless you have some old heavy reels, they will not balance well with lighter more modern reels.
They are powerful and will put out a long line, but you get better fuel economy on a modern, lighter rod.
I also think that the price they sell for is excessive, given the price of some good rods new.
So, in other words, I wouldn't bother bidding unless you've already tried a Hexagraph and liked the action(and weight!!).
