Anyone used the Hardy mach 2 plus? - I bought one on impluse from e-bay. I have used the Mach 1 before and found it a fine casting line, albeit the head is too short. The head on the mach plus is longer at 64'.

Beaneboy,
I used both a Mach 2 and a Mach 2 plus on a recent trip to the Spey. I am no expert with spey lines but found both suited my rod, a Greyflex M2. In my opinion the lines are supple, easy to handle, float high in the water and shoot really well. I have bought the plus line with the 65' head as I felt this would cover more fishing situations than the short head version. Although on a windy day I found the short head was easier to use. The only downside I found, and I am sure this applies to the majority of these spey type lines, was with the thickness of the line forming the head. When connected to a lively fish the line, being quite thick, doesn't cut through the water as well as the old DT lines I used previously.

Beanieboy, one of my pals has one of these lines the plus floater and it just wont go at all,he has the 10 ish jobbie for his 15ft 9/11 Amorphous it wont shoot, and if it does go out you get a perfect semi-circle presentation, tried this line on a number of rods with a number of anglers and we all think the same its too light (it wont go on my Hardy rod rated 10).Can only assume he has a line that slipped past Hardy's QC procedure.Hope you fare better with yours. Pedro.

Unfortunately Springer he has had the line for longer than a year,he thought the bad performance was down to his casting ability as he is a beginner and left it too long before he questioned it or got some one else to try it,wont go to waste tho.as it will probably go well enough on an 8/9 rated rod which a few of us use often enough.Said pal has bought a Loop Quattro in 11/12 multi-tip which he loves ,improving his casting no end which at his step of the ladder is just the thing. Pedro.
