I'm looking to add an intermediate or slow sinker to my armoury for the coming season but i've only ever fished withs floaters and various sink tips. What should i get!? My casting is adequate but certainly room for improvment so i don't want anything too heavy just now. I'm looking for a 9 or 10 weight. Basically, are there any decent lines that fit the bill that i should think about? Advice much appreciated

Just borrowed he Carron Intermediate from the line pool - fantastic. Easy casting, lovely turnover, and felt like it had lots more to offer in terms of distance and performance. 100 times better than the Hardy Intermediate I have used in recent seasons.

Why do i always forget the important bits! I'll be using a 14ft, 9 or 10 wt (still deciding what to buy just now). If i can get a decent line for under 50quid i'll be happy but this isn't too important as it's performance i'm after. Like i said, my casting has lots of room for improvement so i don't want a massively long head on it. Thanks for the info so far

I got the short/65' head, can't recall if they had the longer heads.

granters, My advice would be to look at either the Carron or Ian Gordon range. Both come in 9/10 Intermediate with 65' heads. The Carron has the edge in my opinion but at £75 it is significantly more expensive as IG lines are available everywhere at £39.99 and sometimes even cheaper. I think for me, the sink rate would probably decide my purchase depending on which suits you best. Carron 1.75"/sec IG 1"/sec Used in conjunction with sinking poly tips you will have a very versatile set up, it is the one I use most during the season. Thanks, i'm going to have a look at the Ian Gordon today and hopefully get a throw with it. Versatility is my main reason for getting an intermedite so this sounds ideal. I just don't think floaters with polytips fish as well as an intermediate (based on my trout fishing experience). I think 75 quid might be a bit much just now as this is my first intermediate and from what i've heard the Ian Gordon range is superb.
