I have Diawa and Barbour bootfoots and Simms stockingfoots. The most comfortable of the lot are the Simms. Marvellously supple and altho they require a bit more effort to put on, the added ankle support and comfort is well worth it.

The best all round neoprene wader in terms of cost and durability are Daiwa 4 mm at a retail of around £55.
I have been there and done that with loads of others and in three years I have only had one genuine leaker returned to the shop.
You should always stop and wonder why some companies have new designs out every year at ever increasing cost !!! One word - Trouble.
A good wader design always hangs around for a good few years- Daiwa, Vision extremes, Simms etc.

Daiwa neoprenes are excellent value for money - even though I mostly wear breathable waders, I have had a pair of daiwa neo's for years and they are still going strong. They are 4mm and cost approx £60.

My Diawa 4mm neoprenes have served me well for 5 years. I even use them for winter sea fishing from the rocks. I find the feet are a bit soft for very rough wading or walking but a pair of neoprene socks help. When I need a new pair my next ones will be the stocking foot version. Steve

I cant understand anyone wanting neoprene waders they are too clumsy for walking any distance and a nightmare getting on and off when its cold.I bought breathables a couple of seasons ago and have never looked back. Alan

Had three pairs of Diawas best aquasure specials nuff said, had Snowbee,John Norris, all returned next post.Spent my wonga on a pair of Simms 3mm Bi-Polars absolutely brilliant,6years old well faded and battered, wear them all year round best thing since sliced bread. For the real cold weather got the Vision 5mm a lot cheaper but well worth it in spring just a bit restrictive compared to the Simms. Both pairs are stocking foot.Although I do own Simms breathables,do feel its an advantage to own both styles. In cold weather breathables then layered breathable clothing means I cook in the car on the way there/back and if a pub celebration is called for looking like the Michelin man at the bar and gently cooking, well not for me prefer the simplicity of Neoprenes in that case, also Neoprenes are a lot more robust if thats important to you. Hi
No new waders from Daiwa. They do a Lochmor model at GBP 149 in 5mm but no other neoprenes. They also discontinued their breathables a couple of years ago.
I have not had much success with the 5mm ones two pairs in 4 months.
Frank
As for oceans- probably the most reliable on the market but fairly expensive for what they are - however value for money for the time they will last.

I wear lightweight stockingfoots nine months of the year and vary the inner clothing according to the weather, gave up neoprene several years ago.

I've started buying really cheap and nasty waders as I'm rough on them and seem to go through 2 or 3 pairs a year. When I go into the water most times, it looks like I'm in a bloody Jacuzzi with all the holes. I've bought so many pairs in the last few years that I'm thinking of MAKING a pair out of all the repair kits!!

I agree with Frank (who's not only a very helpful bloke but actually knows a thing or two) in endorsing the cheapo Diawa 4mm. I paid around £45 for mine and so far cant fault em. Buy with confidence!

The best pair i had was called BEHR [bear] but like the daiwa heavy 5mm you sweated your butt off in the summer.Alas i see they have broken into the breathable market and went to where else, china of course. The neoprenes that they sold were done in 5mm & 3-5mm, with rubber and pvc boots. for anyone interested, www. behrangelsport.de/babes
