I'm looking for some advice prior to buying a new fly reel. The reel will be used on a B&W Norway 16ft. At some point in the future, I may be fishing on some big rivers in Norway, so I guess the reel would need to carry at least 200yds of backing and have a good drag (optimistic, I know!)
I was thinking about the Vision XLA 11 - any views on this reel, or any suggestions of a better one in the £200 price range?

The Vision GT is a great reel and you get a free spare spool for about £160. Ian

The GT is a great reel and have just got one for myself.
The XLA comes in two guises- XLA and XLA ANTI-REVERSE. Make sure you get the right one , as the anti-reverse - is as it says.(you need to specify left/right hand drive).
The Partridge has an excellent drag but may be a bit " blingy" in appearance. The snowbee xs May also be worth a look. All around the GPB 150 - 200

Why not buy a 10/12 Trion - excellent capacity - excellent drag and very well made - unbeatable value at £60.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like Vision reels have a reasonable reputation.

The lamson velocity is a class act, with a great drag thats used throughout the Waterworks range. Also the Vosseler is slightly cheaper, but equally as good. I wouldn't risk anything less on the big rivers and big fish of Norway.
