Mrs Mikeyny got me a Sage for Christmas and i was looking to get a reel to go with it . Just wondering if anyone has one of these and what do they think of them . I am going to use it for Grilse and Sea trout with a Sage 976-xp mostly on a little spate river in southwest Ireland . Or do you have any other reels that might be suited for the job , I can get one here for $125 www.waterworks-lamson.com/lamson_Radius.htmlthanks in advance

Being a bit of a Lamson addict...... the radius is a very nice reel but to be honest it's not in the same class as other Waterworks products. IMHO you'd be much better off with a velocity which is simply a great reel for the money ;D

...... ofcourse if you go for a Velocity the new 'Hard Alox' is the 'thing' at the moment. It's a nice piece of kit but there's nothing wrong with the older models, you should be able to hunt one of them down (a V 3.5 is probably what you'd need) in tackle shops or on good old eBay for the sort of money you're talking about

thanks for the advice batanut . The Velocity is a great reel and i will see if i can get the budget to go up over $100 more , after all it is only a line holder right I would like to have a balanced outfit as i fish for long hours when i get out there 10 to 12 hours at a go with a short break at the river bank for lunch is not uncommon for me .
