Just about to buy a Hardy Angel fly reel 11/12 and have noticed that prices have gone up from £349 to £449 in the new John Norris catalogue - I don't know how they can justify such an increase.
Does anyone know of a good equivalent reel at a sensible price?
Thaks in advance for any advice.

If you want a Hardy reel phone Hardy at Alnwick who are doing Gem mk 2s for half price (£180) - ok, still a lot of money but if you are after a Hardy, that would be a cost-effective option for a new reel. They are good capacity too, not like some of these modern-fangled large arbor things. 01665 510027

Why not go for something a little more classic. www.fishingconcepts.com/LoopReels.htmlThe Loop Classic is a lovely reel. This guy sells in US dollars but is based in Oz, so no import duty etc. Been using him for years.

Loop Evotec is really good. Very strong, solid, hard-wearing, and will manage anything we'll hook in the UK

Try the Ultralight Disc Large Arbor by Hardy, still a few around for below £200 got two and can highly recommend them, got the Angel too and its really great(paid £254 two years ago how do Hardy justify such a price hike).Pal uses the Gem reels and he swears by them.Try Fawcetts think they still have some of both. If any one out there knows where I could find 3 spools for my Hardy gold Sovereign 11/12 am interested, dealer based would be better as I am looking to part ex my Marquis Disc and 4 spare spools. Guys, we're not comparing apples with apples here. The Loop Classic is a modern reel with a classic look. The quality, as with the Evotec reels, is of a high standard. It looks good, it sounds good and has a good braking system.....and most importantly, it's a fraction of the cost of the Cascapedia.... £350 It also weighs a lot less. I love my Cascapedia but I could not afford to go and by another..

The cascapedia is a far better reel than the Loop classic, more far eastern guff for a silly price.
Would recommend the Angel or Daniellson built evotecs as ahve all 3. The new Hardy Zane looks very good too, so am buyingh one asap.
