Well my ebay tale of woe is finally over. I'm the proud owner of a Hardy Marquis Salmon 3. Looks to be in excellent nick, but having forked out for a second hand bit of kit, I got thinking. Should I get it overhauled by Hardy or should I just give it an oil myself?
Hardy have quoted £25 plus PP for the sevice which seems reasonable, with a 2-3 week turn around.
I should add that I can just about take a spool off and change from left to right wind, but do all those little bits need taking off and cleaning??

I had a Marquis No.3 serviced by Hardy, and would thoroughly recommend the service. They replaced the spindle and one of the rivets(?) at no extra charge. They also had the reel back to me within a week. They probably would have replaced the springs and pawls as well, but I had recently done this myself.

£25 flat rate. Very good service.
You should phone them, they were very helpful over the phone when I spoke to them. The number is on their website.

Robert,
We offer a "clean and overhaul" service which is the reel would be stripped down, fully checked over and any parts required would be replaced and lubricated. The cost for this is £25 plus £5 return carriage and the work would take between 2-3 weeks. If you wish to proceed with the order please return the reel to us at the address below and we will get this sorted for you.
