Tackle shops - Invergordon / Alness??

Lo all,

Does anybody know if theres any good tackle shops in the Invergordon / Alness area worth a look.

My ship is in for a few days and I was hoping to get off for a browse about.

I know of a shop in Inverness but dont think I'll be travelling that far away.

It is indeed a pity that we are losing the small family run shops to the "big boys".
Looks like its a jaunt into Inverness for a look and a spending spree!!

This annoys me too. I used to have a number of tackle shops that I could visit. Some of them even seen their way to offering you a cup of coffee while you talked about all things fishy - local rivers, new tackle, new fly patterns etc.

I know that Caffaro's is still open in Glasgow, but it's a bit far away for a lunchtime visit.

Personally, I don't like the atmosphere in fishing supermarkets like the Glasgow Angling Centre. The choice is good, but the prices reflect the monopoly that they are establishing. It's a bit stack 'em high and sell them dear. A friend of mine also had a very difficult time trying to get a replacement/refund for a packet of hooks that had obviously been stood on before the sale - how petty is that from GAC!!!

You can't replace the warmth and knowledge of the local tackle store. The fact that they lack the choice is all part of the charm ;D

Local tackle shops, from my experience, are also more likely to listen to a what the customer wants. If they don't have the item in stock, they will usually order it for you.

There is a tackle shop in Dingwall. Can't remember the name but it is on the main shopping street.

It's a tackle and sports shop if memory serves.... been a while since I was there last
