I'm in the market for a new single hander to use for grilse/ night seatrouting. Does anyone have any experience of the 4pc 11' 7/8 grilse / seatrout rod. Cheers in advance.

In the past they got very good reviews in the T&S. Allan Brown the rod builder behind Lennoxrods sadly died late last year & am not sure if the business has continued.

Thanks for the info. The website's still running but I really wanted some feedback before I contacted them. Cheers. B.

Hi, Very sorry to hear about Alan Brown - what a nice man and always had plenty of time to chat through rods/applications and nothing was too much trouble for him.
I have had two of his rods. I still have his 13' 9# which is a simply superb rod and, for me, when matched with a Carron 65' 9/10 flies. I also owned one of his 10'6", or 11' with the longer lower handle attached, World Series Grilse rods. Honestly, I couldn't get to grips with it in either form. It was rated 8/9 and I think would have worked best with a WF10# overhead. Speywise, it just did not feel right either and I sold it on. In short a real poker of a rod with little feeling.
I have been waiting sometime now for a Meiser 11'7" 6/7 rod from the states. This has a full size lower grip and is not one of his switch rods. Its been with customs for 6 weeks but when (if?) they finally release it I'd be happy to give some feedback. It should be bang on the money for Grilse and he is sending one of his own multitip lines with it. It has a grain window of 350 - 500 but would load well with a 450 short belly Spey line.
Hope this helps,
Ted
