Can anyone help out with the following info for this chap
I am considering buying 2 Ian Gordon Spey Lines - the medium sink and fast sink lines. Before I commit to the lines do you know if any of the chaps have fished the lines using a Bruce and walker Norway 18 foot 10/11 on the Ness? I am not sure if I should go for the short or medium head version rated 10/11 or 11/12. I would be interested to find out how other anglers have rated this line on the rod. I would be fishing the Tay. I would rate myself as a reasonable spey caster.
Thanks
Frank

havent tried on a 18ft but used on a 15ft speycaster with the short head found it okay, but i much preferred the hardy mach 2 which flies with any rod.

As you know from our pm's i have been testing various combinations of lines and 18 footers. My experience for an 18fter is that you will at least require 75ft, indeed I found it a little wanting, short, on an 18 ft Partridge. I haven't tested the Norway having been steered away by anglers way more experienced than me.
Zephead's your man on 18fters here, try a pm to him, he's a mine of information and experience on lines vs 18fters.

Had a fling with KC and the sunshine band last week with the 18ft partridge and we found the Carron line about 100 feet the best on test. But it was a world apart from casting with a fifteen foot rod.Knights of the 18 foot rod I salute ye all as its a monster of a thing to play with. ;D

Frank-was away in London last week otherwise would have picked up on this sooner.
I would think that the 75 ft head would do if your man is a decent caster for the slow sink and the 65fter for the quick sink would be a breeze.Might be an idea to try the line pool as the 75 may suit his individual style more and getting quick sinking lines moving with an 18 footer is easy but it takes a while to refine ones technique/placement as every line feels different, even if they are essentially the same spec, designer etc.
For the quick sink I'd tempted to instead to chop up a DT Wet IV,get it nail knotted and try it/chop it til it suits. With some slightly thicker running line (Rio) it will probably suit this rod better than and IG as I 'm not sure anyone really makes a good off the shelf Wet IV for an 18 footer.
The 10/11 Norway isn't quite as stiff and powerful IMHO as a full-blooded 11 wt Powerlite and that handles 75 ft Lee Wulffs with super quick tips like a brook rod and that may be a better answer.
B&W may have a view-they test their rods with Carron lines but as Carron don't make a 75 ft head sinker not sur ewt they test them with. The ever helpful Brian Potter is your man at B&W-no on the website.
Hope that helps
