Has anyone tried to spey cast with the Norway 18 foot rod. I found it to be a tad difficult as the rod is stiffer in action. Has anyone else found this. I was trying to snake roll & Double spey without my normal standard being achieved I did try the 18ft Powerlite which in my opinion is a lot softer with more action and thus you can bang a line out no problem. The only major hassle is that some of the lines available today such as the Michael Evans twin-lines are too short to load the rod when you venture into the sinking & Hi D range of lines. If only he could make a longer headed line. His line are excellent on the shorter rods. What we 18 foot users need is a line available in Wet II , Hi -D that would load the rods appropriately say 65 feet head minimum. OK there are Intermediates, fast sinking lines such as Ian Gordon etc but no Hi D's

Only have a softer action 17 1/2 ft rod at the moment, used to have a 18ft & 20ft B&W but sold tem because Ifound it difficult switching between them and the 13ft/15ft rods.
Having looked at various web sites I can see there are not many HI-D lines available, I have got a feeling there used to be more available in Norway so if you've got a friend going out there soon...
Have you thought of explaining your problem to Michael Evans and asking whether he has a slightly damaged Hi-D line (even if they cut the end taper/running line so that they know you're not trying it on) that has been returned and is otherwise unusable, and which you can have (pay a small fee for) in order to try joining to your present line for the purposes of creating a larger head? I have met this intelligent man before and expect he would do it if you reported your findings back to him/sent the line to him so he could try the line. Perhaps he already has such a test line?
I would suspect you are going to have to make a sacrifice in quality somewhere and make a line yourself.
