I currently use the Lamson Velocity 4 reel, This reel is not the biggest capacity reel, but to me is aestheticaly pleasing and smooth. My Hardy Mach 2s and Bill Drury lines, fit with a smidgin of room, however my Monteith floating line rubs on the guides when fully recovered.
If I was to buy another quality reel for longer/bigger lines, and as a second reel, would people recommend using the Loop/Danielsson reels that appear to be so popular with many on this forum?. Are these reels interchangeable i.e. Loop/Danielsson Danielsson/Loop? and do the different size spools fit on the same cages? Or do you have any other suggestions ?

Orvis Mach VI large arbor is worth a pop for bigger lines, such as the Monteith. Only drawback is that it is quite a big reel - one of my fellow anglers referred to it as a 'hose reel'. Nice to play fish off, though, and very smooth.
Plus side is they are featuring in the Orvis sale as from tomorrow.

Robbie, I have one of these reels - currently lying empty as it contained the Orvis tarry rope line. I as just debating what to do with it....happy for you to try it out if you want if you can wait until next week - I can post Sat when back home. It is large but I didn't find it that heavy. Only used maybe 6 times - a couple of the numbers on the drag diak are slightly faded but thats about it. The spool is brand new as Orvis just gave me an empty one when I took the line back rather than unwinding form the other spool. It was new at Xmas and has the Orvis reel cover and probably got the receipt etc somewhere...
