Special, very special. I have used a 15 and 16 for long periods.
Chalk and cheese with Bloke rods, Meiser's cork would cost more han a Bloke rod.

Meiser rods are the mutts nuts!
I have 3 of them.
All are hand-built in Oregon USA.
Customised to your exact specification.
I have 2 x MKS (Mike Kinney Specials) a 13' S2H130910 and a 14' S2H140910, and a Rogue river 12'6".
They not only look super, they are superb functioning bits of kit.
My next buy will be a 15' Highlander for next season.
Considering the most expensive is around $800 (~£400), they are good value for what you get.
The MKS series 9/10 will handle any salmon this good earth (water) has to offer.

The Meiser rods look good and I respect people choice of jungle cock on a rod. I have not handled one of these rods but I believe all the stories about the finish etc.
Does anyone have any information on the performance of the blank.
How does it compare in pure perfomance terms with other rods available in the US.
The rod is not available in shops in Europe and yet everyone is raving about them.
Has this rod been benchmarked against other rods by casting experts in the country where it is most common.
Forget about price in the perfomance figures. these rods are the same price as all the other great american rods. I just want a link to some comparison tests if anyone knows of any.

CF Gordon Armstrong, current world champion fishes with a 14 ft Meiser, I remember when he first picked it up, put a Carron 95 on it and cast it out of the pond, at the Golden Gate "Spey o Rama" What other great American rods? Sage? come on,wake up and smell the coffee. Who is going to independantly test it in the states? Dana ? Meiser sponsors the Spey Pages so Dana will not speak ill of it. Steve Choate and Way Yin are both paid by Scott Rods I believe. Very few others can Speycast to any significant level.

CF Meiser's rods are ONLY available from himself. His business makes ~400 rods a year (his own words), and ALL his clients are recommended by word of mouth. He does one other thing though (some few others may do similar), he will send you a rod or rods for testing, you bearing the cost of two-way postage and insurance, so that you can see if it is what you are looking for. He is THAT confident about his sticks. Speak to Bob Meiser himself, contact via his website meiserflyrods.com. Mike

I have a MKS 15' arriving very soon. Anyone in S. Scotland who wants to try it can come over and cast it. I also have a few CND Specialists in various lengths for comparison. Give it until late Oct. as I have a lot of days away fishing until then. I live very close to Kelso.

Had a Meiser MKS 15' 9/10 for past three weeks or so. Having had an average of a (good) rod a year over the past 40 years I can say that it is simply the best rod I have ever used. Although a Carron 75' 10/11 is an excellent match, a similar spec Snowbee just flies out to the backing: is the 3D a bit heavier than the Carron? I have not used it as yet with intermediates or sinking lines (or long tips) but am very confident that it will be a winner with these lines.
The rod is VERY forgiving and muffed casts which would simply fold with other rods 'recover' brilliantly! The finish is in the premier league. Mine came in a bag and tube...the bag, by UK standards set by Hardy years ago, is shoddy...but so are Sage bags!
I am so keen that I am ordering some more! I also have - now - some brilliant CND rods for sale!! I will post these at the end of November.
Lastly..the modest US price becomes a LOT more once a good shipper, insurance and Mr Brown's high duties and taxes have been paid!!!

Do you mind me asking what the extras totaled, either in £'s or as a percentage of rod price?

Take the US price, add about $65 for shipping, 22% of sub total for Import duty, and then 17.5% of total so far for VAT. Now you may be charged from £10 to £25 Clearance/ collection fees!!!! This lot adds 60-70% to the US price.
I have allowed for cheap insured shipping. Use the major companies and the cost can double!
