Happy memories indeed. Don't think I'm going back this year, staying in my homeland instead.
During our week, the first week in July, we have a few rod days on the Ridge Pool and had contemplated flying over this year just for those couple of days. The flights are currently £9 then I noticed the great Irish rip off....day licence now 34 euros and a 21 day something like 48 euros. 34 euros just for a day licence. I'm all for paying my share for fish conservation but this is taking it too far.
Maybe it is time for Scotland to introduce rod licences and help the funds available to conserve salmo. As long as the Scottish executive are not as greedy as the Irish government, I'll go along with it.
Cheers,
Jock
PS anyone want 4 rod days on the Ridge Pool, first week in July?

Hi Malcolm,
I only know my allocation around Easter. I may just return my offer when I get it. However, if I do sell, it would be at cost price and only to someone like yourself, who is well known and trustworthy.
Last year it was 130 Euros per rod per session. I have 2 rods each session which we share amongst 3 anglers. Not cheap when you consider it is for sunrise to 2pm only ( I usually get allocated the early morning sessions) and you have to depart after landing 5 (max. you can keep is 3) It is an experience, fishing in the middle of Ballina.
Cheers,
Jock

Thank you for the compliment and keep me in mind if you decide to sell them rather than return them.

Nice fish. What line is that? its a Cortland WF intermediate I use on my light 12ft summer rod. This fish was caught on the Cathedral beat on the Moy, I have fished the Ridge but actually prefer the Cathedral (esp in low water). I'm waiting for my allocation in March as well Jock, as you say the change of regulations will have an impact on people fishing I think this year. Its not just the price of the state license but the changes in rules that could effect it - from what I understand its a bag limit of 3 and then catch and release on single barbless hooks. I know in the peak months its five fish (3 kept and 2 released) but it will be interesting to see what they do about the single hooks E
