Here are a few pictures from our blank week at Woodend. As you can see it is a very pleasent place to go not to catch salmon. View from tail of Moral looking downstream (end of beat more or less) Long pool - lovely clear water and classic stuff. Tail end of Moral pool Commonty rod landing a fish in the Garden pool - classic fly water Taken from House pool looking down to the Loop And finally one of Irrigation on Aboyne Water - great holding pool. The cock Pheasant looks on!

Nice pictures there; lovely looking river the Dee - one day I keep telling myself, one day I'll be lucky enough to fish it

Its not a bad beat, esp the moral pool, which if my memory serves me right Ashley Cooper reckoned to be one of the best spring pools on the whole of the Dee.

Nice pictures - pity you didn't get a fish or two. Fished the Loop in February - was covered in snow and snowed all morning Never fished Aboyne water - pool looks smashing

Woodend is a lovely beat - but the fact is it is not the most productive water on the river. Would still recommend it to others though certainly. Irrigation is a great pool - not exactly 'natural' but holds alot of fish and is easy to fish from the Aboyne side. Fishes in any height of water too. Had some very entertaining sessions in there skating a collie over the top - easy from the raised walkway. Here is the bottom half - Late spring 2006. Neck of Lummels in the far distance, which is the best pool on the beat.

Must get myself a day there - looks beautiful. Is the opposite bank, Birse?

Yeah Birse is the opposite bank - quite a few forum members fish the Birse side. Their fishing extends a mile downstream from us -although the Aboyne fishings total 2.5 miles.

Have fished Commonty a few times and very interesting to see the water from the other bank. Good to see a fish caught as well.
