Hi Chaps, Sorry I've not been around for a while - work, family etc - but I did manage a short trip to the River Ewe last week and had two stunning fish - the freshest I've ever had. The one shown here, held by Raymond the ghillie, fell to a size 8 Cascade, from the neck of McCordies pool, and tipped the scales at 17lb, before she was slipped back into the stream. The second fish (also a hen and returned), was 11lb, taken from the Pot (right at the tail of Lower Narrows), again on the same size 8 Cascade. Being only half a mile or so from the the sea - the strength and power of both fish was remarkable. The fish shown took 15mins before we even saw it !! PS Much to the vet's "bafflement", Avatar Jack is on the mend - not quite his full "fighting weight" but with the past 2 months on steroids and high protein - he's well on the road to recovery. Cheers all, Catch up soon, Altmor.

I'm sure he wears the "cammo" so he can sneak up on you mid fight with fish - just to ensure it's returned. ;D ;D Cheers Alan.

Craqcking fish - there'd be more (and seatrout) if they closed the polluting, wasteful salmon farms!

Nice one Zephead,
Tried as as I might I couldn't place "that loss adjuster of mutual aquaint" in amoungst the fish on the Thursday, and yes ... he shot off for the Dee on the Friday - just two hours before the 17lbr was landed !!
Didn't know he was such a well kent fisher - I've had a number of calls from others saying he did, with hindsight, think he was a tad hasty in shooting off for the Dee - but that's fishing. It all adds to the excitement of the next trip - 6 days to go and I'm on the Awe - normally do well - do you think I should call C and see if he can spare a day ?
Catch you soon,
Regards,
Altmor

Congratulations on two such splendid fuishies. Also, well done to CharlieH for his Beauly fish. What the springers are lacking in quantity they seem to be making up in quality this year. So here's one of our Middle Dee fish from 10 days ago caught at the back of three in low water with the sun shining down the river. This springer is almost albino in comparison to the silver backs from the Ewe and the Blueback from the Beauly. Any thoughts on all the variations in colouring? Just out of interest, the fish was caught using a 15' Sage Z-Axis - note where the rod is bending. Regardez CLaG

Altmor,
I'd suggest he'd be very keen.
Someone sat up watching his bone fishing vids with him a la Eden Water House late night soiree stylee,a technique with which I know you are familiar, after a barbecue at Subrogation Towers on Saturday evening.
Finished off were the Loss Adjusters rum, cigars,Tiger beer, brandy and San Miguel andanything else we could lay our hands on,'til late into the night.
Such was the befuddled state of his Cohiba addled brain on Sunday he found himself at a private showing of Sage rods on Sunday morning in an nearby tackle outlet.By noon he had walked home with a new Sage TCR by way of "present to self"!
Therefore any opportunity to play with his new toy would be greatly appreciated I'm sure.
Good to see Raymondo cracking a smile twixt clenched teeth with the fuishie-is it anticipation of Lord Heaps of Kelty's arrival for the season as Under-ghillie or has he heard the clunk of the new proprietors Porsche sump on the cattle grid?
DTYS!

CLaG, that's a bonnie fish, well done. Could it be West Coast / East Coast fish ... after all they do say the west is by far the cleaner side of the country ... hence the "true" silver jobs - albinos a freak of nature perhaps ?
ZH, trying to forget that fateful Eden House night ... where I was obviously led astray by the Duke and ... you know him well, the Prince of Darkness. By the sounds of it the loss adjuster's stock was let off pretty lightly in comparison to Kelso's ale houses, and yes Raymondo's teeth are clenched - not at the thought of underghillies nor scraped porsche sumps, but the guy on the other bank, safely separated by 40yrds of foaming water, is shouting over "let 'im keep it ya miserable git" !!
ZH you have pm.

Thanks Gary,
Just realised - caught up with an old acquaintance in ZH - didn't know he "subscribed" to the show as it were - until he reminded me of a "trip to remember (or forget)" down on the Tweed years back.
The power of the site - meeting old and new - good to be back and I trust you're having an ok season so far ?
Cheers,
Altmor.

Altmor, Season has been rubbish so far for me, with only a few sea trout and some fish lost to recount. I've not been getting out to play much, so I can't really grumble. Always good to see others getting fish though.... honest it is... no really, it is Cheers, G
