It was with high hopes that I cast my first line into Raven's Rock. The river was up and a good number of fish had been caught the previous week despite "little angling pressure". The river rose, and rose, 2 feet, 3 feet, according to the gauge under Dalreoch Bridge, not a single fish was seen, although I did lose 2, one after jumping down from a high bank to net it! Fool! The other rods picked up the odd fish, 11 in total I think, but me and the old man blanked.
Strange. We've had fish in desparate conditions in July, 6 weeks after the last significant rainfall, now we had it in abundance, and no fish! Had they all run through? Are they late? Who knows?
Salmon fishing. A cruel, cruel sport. Watch out John Mac.

Will there be pics to follow? I hope so - never been to this river. It is traditional to post pics in the photo gallery section
