I saw the final, really do not know who won it BUT it was the last guy to cast, from where I was standing it looked very much like 53yds,with the only cast which actually worked,Every one of the guys had a problem with the upstream breeze which was affecting the last ten metres of the casting area, I was standing almost in line with the 45 metre float, The last man cast at a point at which the wind dropped entirely for a few seconds as he entered the final part of the cast, his next cast was around 43yds ao is it metres ?

I met quite a few of the forum members there as well,Andrew stick in at the fly tying, and good luck next week on the Dee nice to have met you. I also met one of the smartest dressed guys at the show, who was also from the Tyne,I think it was Tyneangler, speak up if it was you Speyvalley, It was a great show, awesome casting by everyone and great to meet some forum members as well as yourself and Willie Gunn, not sure about the smart dress though! Must have been someone else! We had 30 plus guys from the Tyne coached up for the show and everyone wanted to know the date for next year! Better luck with the wind next year and a better tannoy system!!

Thanks for all the words of encouragement. The weekend was a great success for the events first year and a big thanks to Eion Fairgreive for all his hard work before, during and after the event, I am sure he is looking forward to a well deserved break. I know Eion will take all that has been said on board and use it to the events benefit for forthcoming years, striving to make it the number 1 event. I am sure all will agree, the venue for such an event could not be better! As for the casting competition, what an event! It is always great to have the Norwegians and "other" Nations competing to make the comp truly international, so a big hand must go out to Knut & Trond Syrstad and Mikael Bloomberg. Roll on the CLA & World Emirates (Ireland).

Nice one Gordon, also well done to James for making the final.
Looks like the Carron team dominated proceedings.

To think I missed out on meeting the members who were there,I honestly did'nt know there were members taking part in the competition. I feel such a clown I did see the Tyne bus as we went in around 10o'clock. I kept going back and forward to the Carron stand to try to meet Mr Jack as I'd been advised by Peter Sheldon to go and have a chat with him. He must have been at the waterside,Oh well there is always next year,I will certainly be there. Gordon, well done,in fact Very well done ! Right now I could kick my own ar#e.
