Happy New Year to you all,
1st question (of many!) of the New Year from me;
Does anybody have a rough rule of thumb about what depth they fish the fly at depending on fairly settled water temperatures and if water clarity plays a big part in the changing of the given theory?
( Have I opened a can of worms?) excuse the pun!

Thanks very much Graham, that will really help me form some sort off guide line. When you talk of fishing in coloured water, would you be happy to fish your fly near the surface if for example the water clarity was say a visual of around 2' and the river depth was roughly 5' (water temp say 52 deg)?
Thanks again,
Gary
