What makes would people recommend ?

Tyneangler, I would also stick with the Salars or Loop hooks but I find that I only need size 6 for tubes flies.

You can't go wrong with partridge or loop hooks. I prefer the partridge myself. Loop tend to cost more too.

Fishingdo, what size hooks do you use with tubes?

It all depends on the tube i am using, but generally I stick with size tens.

Tyneangler, I don’t mean to hijack your thread but what are the advantages of using doubles instead of trebles on tube flies?
Is it a presentation thing or is it a catch and release thing?
Thanks

could it also act like a keel of a boat and keep the fly level and reducing the possibilty of the fly spinning in the current?
might be b@ll@cks but just a thought.

I usually only use salar doubles in the autumn when water can be very leafy. I put the hook on "upside down" covering the hook with the wing, hey presto no leaves hooked. It does not seem to alter the hooking capabilities

I've been using loop doubles for a couple of years, but have had good reswults this season with kamasan #4 short shank singles- great for C&R!!!!!!!! ;D

I've just bought some Turrall tube fly hooks made in Redditch and they dont look very strong! So I may buy some of the tube fly hooks recommended on here.
