It seems that Berkley Fireline comes highly recommended for spinning; does it require different knots to mono? I presume that it is hardwearing, otherwise the cost would be prohibitive- who offers the best deals? Thanks J2D

Hi, Firstly, what a great name ;D Reminded me of Gazza's mate Jimmy Five-Bellies - although I'm sure you're a picture of health You can get this line on ebay - just do a search on their site. I use a knot called, quite unimaginatively, the Braid Knot (look on one of the websites that have fishing knots). The knot is pretty straightforward. Try here: www.fishing-khaolak.com/knots/braid_ring_steps.html

thanks sloggi and duncan, I'll check the knots out. I earnt my nickname from my insistence on having two of everything (anchors, drogues etc.) when afloat.Il ike to run a tight ship and won't have any damned fool tell me otherwise! J2 D

I haven't tried the Berkley fireline yet but I would strongly reccommend Tufline XP braid - extremely fine and more resistant to abrasion than Spiderline. Be careful with knots, though!
