Just to let you know.
The Heslmsdale fishery board are once again opening the 6 lower beats of the river (prime river) for the general public to fish on the first four days of the fishing season, starting the 11th of January.
There are no limits on the number of rods, but with over 90 quality pools there should be plenty of room.
You have to give your details at the local hotel before you start. Should be a good opening, providing it doesn't go too cold.

Planning the Saturday and maybe the Friday. What about yourself?
What is too cold? = If you get 4-5nights/days of extremely cold weather (around -3 degrees and before ) the river starts to freeze or you fishing amongst grue.

Planning staying over on the Saturday night to make a good day of it. You should do the same if you come up.

First fish taken off the Helmsdale today. Didn't get details of the beat it was taken, but it was on display in the tackle shop in the afternoon.
It weighed 9lb and was covered in sea lice.
