Hi I pulled up a ruby devon minnow and controller whilst spinning last week. The minnow did not have the usual twisted wire through it, but a length of stiff red plastic tubing, smaller diameter than a cotton bud tube. The tube was glued to the inside of the tulip and the nylon passed through the tube and tied to the treble. I quite like this idea and would appreciate it if anyone can tell me a source for this fine diameter tube. Mike

Might it be the stuff that comes with most cans of WD40 Hi I pulled up a ruby devon minnow and controller whilst spinning last week. i believe this may be what you are looking for, I allways use the plastic liners for my devons as ive found the traditional wire mounts can split your floating devon. I make hundreds of these mounts every season but have found that the tubing is getting harder to source. GAC was where i started getting my tubing , but could never get enough for my needs. As stated in acw post wd40 tubing will also do the job. Hope this helps SN

Hi again Would appreciate some advice on what glue to use to attach the fins to Devon minnows. I bought the fins from McHardys of Carlisle. I dont know what kind of plastic or polythene they are and when I tried standard superglue, the result was a very brittle connection. Any help appreciated. Mike

Devcon Epoxy or Araldite should be better, Superglue dry's too quick and its not waterproof, thats why the hospitals put cold water on accidents caused by Superglue.!

Clydesider, use aquasure and they will never come out, araldite will come out over time. Over 1700 devons made this year, fins all glue with aquasure and not one fin has come out. Regards SN

The "tubemount" is a really good idea but you need to use a devon with a large enough centre hole, a very loose fit is best, A tight fit and you will get line twist like you would not believe. I have been trying the system over the past few weeks and I reckon the wire mount is winning ,so far.

Altmor. I make and sell them. It helps subsidise my fishing and fuel costs and gives me something to do over the winter. ........................................................................................................ Kercock, the tubing i use is 2mm external diameter and works well, as for line twist i think thats just one of those things that occasionally happens as with most types of devons. drop me a pm and ill send you some up to try. Regards SNĀ¬

Thought so SN, good for you - it's a good way to wile away those long dark winter days / nights. I do the same with flies, not commercially, more for relaxation and keeping me going till the season starts again. It crossed my mind though, with that many devons in your box, you kept on getting snagged every time you were out. ;D ;D
