Yes the season was ok.
Don't forget how many fishing hrs go into those returns though. Its a lot.
The Tyne blows hot and cold, its not a river i would book fishing on.

???Mmmm... I'm certainly not the best qualified to give an opinion, but, I do fish the Tyne most months. I'd have thought that this season was no great shakes. Spring fishing seemed good....in a very restricted area. Summer, pretty poor. Back-end, good in the right place on a good day, if you were lucky with the water level. I am certainly no expert, but I think the last few seasons have been better than this last one, certainly if "fish showing" is at all relevant. Maybe good for the fish, not us. One good thing, I saw more fresh back-end fish this season than I have seen before.

Yeah I would have to agree with That, it seems to have been a poor season for the majority of rods I have spoken to on the river bank (north, south and main Tyne) through the season, which is amazing when you look at the numbers that have been going through riding mill fish counter (41,113 to the end of November)

Hmmm interesting - on my couple of forays at the backend I saw lots of fish but no takers..
I am working myself into a lather for next season though as I am moving to Tynedale with work and I am going to join Tyneside Anglers Syndicate - anyone know their beats or have any pointers?
Can't wait... -JJ

so JJ you will be local for the East and West Allen tributaries of the south Tyne-sounds good! yer lucky to be in such a prime postion, yer got lots of south Tyne and its tributaries and only a stones throw away from the Cumbrian Eden, presumeing yer in the South Tyne valley that is and not the North Tyne valley

Hi Taddy
Actually, I ended up renting in Morpeth and will be moving permanently to Alnmouth later this year.
Got to fish Bardon Mill and Chollerford already, and tried the Whiteadder but with water levels so low (and confidence/ability even lower) I have so far had a fishless time of it.. (sigh)
Need more rain! - JJ
