Hi all. I am based in Gosport in Hampshire but am originally from Scotland & miss the rivers/fishing up there. Can't get enough time off to get up there & fish. I am looking for some good/resonable water to fish around here within around 3hrs drive. I have rods from light single handers to 13',14' & 15' double handers. Prefer to fish the double handers where possible. I Don't know much about the rivers down here when the runs start or are supposed to start so I've only fished for not migratory fish down here. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Simmo

Get ready for a culture shock! The chalkstreams are nearby, and although they require a slightly different approach and setup to what you are acustomed too are probably the best bet. Never fished it but the Somerley estate water got a good write up in T&S recently: www.christchurchac.org.uk/Plenty of water in Devon at the moment but that is sure to dry up before the fish arrive. Maybe we should keep you posted!

Hi Simmo Christchurch Angling Club website is worth a look - alot of fishing available on the Hants Avon at reasonable cost (www.christchurchac.org.uk). I haven't heard of a fish off the Avon yet, but it should happen in the next week or two if the water settles down.

Simmo, If it hasn't been suggested already, you could do worse than having a browse around :- www.gethooked.co.uk/or wait for the printed version to appear (any time now, for this season's one) Tight Lines
