Does anyone out there fish for salmon on the River Hodder? If so what's it like these days? It used to have a great back end run of short deep fish.
Whitewell Anglers used to be THE club to be in, is it still? The other one I hear of now is Bowland Anglers, any good?
I used to fish it years ago up near Bashall Eaves but have since moved out of the area.
I still have relatives in the area and but slim chance of some access. Any comments, reviews, leads to fishing access gratefully received.

I fish the Hodder for salmon but not until Sept / October, I should fish it more and make the effort to go for the sea trout at night but the water I have access to on the Ribble is more productive and right on my doorstep and I have about 6 miles of double bank to go at where I only have 1 mile single bank on the Hodder.
There is a lot of money being spent on the Hodder with habitat improvement and the smolt release ponds so over the next few years it is hoped that we will see an improvement on both salmon and sea trout runs.
Bowland and Whitewell are both very good clubs with Bowland being about 3 times the size of Whitewell. I think both have waiting lists and neither are cheap to join but they do offer some very good fishing and not just on the Hodder.
pm me if you want any more info.
