Dear all, I will hopefully be providing you with catch updates of Salmon from the river (afon) Teifi in West Wales throughout the season. Nothing much to report as yet, but the river is very low at the moment and could do with a drop of rain over the next couple of weeks. I'll also try and dig up a couple of pics of some fish I had at the backend of last season for you to have a look at, nothing by the standards of some of the guys on this forum, but hey they kept me happy! TT.

Here's a couple from the back end of last season - the Teifi, along with most rivers in the UK, I believe, didn't have a good push of water until very late. However, when the water did arrive the fish appeared in decent numbers. Let's hope for a few more of them in 2007. TT.

Quite a few fish came in on the rise in water last week. Grilse, MSW salmon, and the 'harvest' sea trout. Some of the latter running into double figures like the one below: My mate lost a very large salmon while night fishing for sewin on friday night Well worth a cast if you have the chance. Tom

Thanks Elwyman, I have to admit to falling in love with the Teifi. Though I've only fished it twice I'm captivated by both the beauty of the Teifi valley and the quality of the fish. Plus it is interesting and quite challenging fishing. Tom

Thanks Ian,
It will only be the 2nd time i've fished it and last time the river was very low and nothing showing. So fingers crossed for a bit more action this time.

The river is up and very dirty at present, worm or spinner the only chance of a fish until she clears a bit.
Nice fish Ian, Yellow Ally or Rapala?
TF.

Yes, it makes a nice change, fishing a beat where you know salmon are in residence, and quite a few at that, but it won't last long, the river is droping fast. Cap

I must say I'm surprised at the quantity and quality of this run of fish, even up here in the Lampeter area, they are mostly grilse with a few stale bigger fish in amongst them, and also every fish bar one that I caught was a cock fish. This has been the best 3 days fishing on the Teify for me since 1988, with 9 fish connected, 5 lost and 4 to hand, actual number of hours fished 10. Still can't believe it, will remember it for a long time. Cap
