Took up Salmon fishing last season (still to catch one) and just renewed my ticket for the Teith at Callander.Really looking forward to getting back out.
I have a week off in middle of May and would love to venture North. Now, question is,seeking out available fishing? Is it better looking on web sites for a weeks sport,or,assuming I'm going to have to find accomodation anyway is a better way to find a hotel say on Spey/Deeside that has its own beats.Would appreciate any advice.
PS Am not loaded
Cheers

Middle of May is prime time on the Spey and you will struggle to find any availibility on the private beats. I am looking for fishing to two gentlemen who have told me money is no object. I have still been unable to find them anything. Look at www.fishspey.co.uk and www.fishdee.co.uk you should find something to suit.

Thanks Malcolm, A quick question...as a rule of thumb, do residents have priority on hotel beats, and are these beats comparable with private estate beats. Sorry 2 questions..do you think Association water would be a better proposition for a newcomer like myself?

The Deveron will cost you £20 per day in May and you will have a good chance of a fish. Give me a ring or e-mail me for full details of all the fishing avalable- including the nearest hotels or cottages available. There are some top beats available right up until June.
