HI,
I've won a day in the water on the Erecht at Blairgowerie. I think I can go at any time of year. Could anyone please suggest the best times??? flies?? tactics???

First thing is ,where on the Ericht is the day on.?Generally if its a spring day you have go for the last week in April,My mate always has that week off work and he seldom gets it wrong. It's really a case of can you book your day at very short notice to take advantage of the water being the best height ? lots of ifs and buts.,but all are crucial. If it is on Craighall its best left till after April to let the fish up there. More details and I will help all I can.

Im am member of Blairgowrie AC....... If its on the Angling clubs stretch then that runs from just above the bridge at Blairgowrie to about three or four miles down stream to Kitty Swansons bridge. Its a good river. Ive never caught a salmon yet! as i've only fished for trout... but im getting all the gear this month and going for it! so here's hoping! As for times of the year......April onwards is best... water depending! Fly is very popular but spinning does well too... worm is allowed from May on ( i think??) and i know a few who have had success this way!
Other than that...... look up some of the posts in the rookies corner that ive had answered by some of the guys on this site in the last month since i joined!
Most people fish the stretch from Lochlands farm ( called Lochlands pool) down stream for salmon....... there are a few good pools and a few good lies! If you give me your e-mail address i might be able to e-mail you a few maps showing the stretch! As i've said i've never caught a Salmon (yet!) but i do know where a few of the salmon lies are through talking to guys that do catch when i've been out trout fishing! Failing that a few of the others on here know the river! Good luck anyway! John.
