I've never cleaned any of my fly lines before and thought that they might shoot better if I did. I've heard of people using detergent. Is that the best thing to use? I asked in a tackle shop today who told me to buy a special line cleaner. Is that really necessary? I'd appreciate someone's advice.
Thanks
Leo

I give them a wash in the sink with some warm soapy (hand soap will do) water.
buy permaplast for the floater and use the pad (from the jar) to hold the line as you reel it on.
you can also get permasink.

Wash in warm soapy water, dry it and then get oot yer Back to Black car interior cleaner or any other silicon type car cleaner, give the line/running line a going over with that. When you use the line next it will take off like rocket ! No need to buy a costly line cleaner,no need at all.
