hi all i am decent to good at the vice with trout flys. and the price of bought flys is getting me down so starting making my own salmon patterns. any tips ect would be handy? also cheep materials? when add up bucktail, squirrel ect in different colours cost wise its frightening through Glasgow angling or other main stream outlets? also hooks!!! nearly fainted when i seen the price of 10 low water treble hooks in my local tackle shop!!! £6.50!! ripped off?? yes i think so but first attempts with limited material hooks very good.

you will need some general materials for salmon flies eg. red, orange and yellow capes, dyed squirrel etc
however you can save a bit of money if you look at the specific patterns that you use most and just buy the materials for than pattern.
