What is everybody's view when deciding on new tackle or clothing.
I do read up on what the likes of T&S say but do not go out and buy what is "best in test".
For me i have to try / test it or them for myself before i purchase as i have learned in the past that it can be costly and it eventually lies in the shed or given away.
Cheers

To be honest, I tend to follow advice on this and other forums before buying new tackle. I think you can get some sound advice from other anglers.
A good example, I was half thinking of getting some of those wading boots with the interchangeable soles. There was a thread about them on another forum and quite a few people said the soles start slipping off after they've had some wear and tear. Some of the guys on this forum put me off the simms LC boot because of durability problems.
I like to try rods before buying because we all have different likes and dislikes.

I absolutely agree with you that this site gives tremendous advice to newcomers and learners like myself.
