Hi,
Anyone got any advise about fishing the Lyn (Devon - Watersmeet area) for salmon at this time of the year. Where to get day tickets?

Tickets from Topp Tackle in Taunton, Brendon House Hotel in Brendon (don't turn up at breakfast time and ask for a ticket, they will be too busy) and the tourist information centre in Lynton town hall. The latter can try your patience when there is a spate coming down and you are stuck in a queue of grockels! I've only fished it once this year but I hear that it is doing ok. With all the water we have had fish will be right through the river. If you get there on the first day or two of a spate fish the lower few pools in the morning, if it is the first spate for a few weeks (not this year then!) it can get very busy down there. Otherwise head up river and try everywhere up to Rockford/Brendon. It is very much a spinning or worming river although one or two do get caught on fly and odd ones get hooked on nymph by trout anglers. The very best advise I ever got on the Lyn was to fish everywhere, you need to work it out for yourself Tight lines Andy
