Can anybody tell me how do fix a cone head on a tube?
Do you fix it before tying?

I fix the cone head last after i.ve tied the fly. I mostly tie on tube liner then slip the cone over the head which has been superglued, then heat the end of the liner to bevel it tight to the cone. If i'm tying on aluminium tube i replace the liner with a longer piece leaving extra sticking out at front of tube.Tie wing on liner at front and wind a small neat head, superglue and finish as above.

My first efforts at tying some coneheads: Looking forward to trying them on the Conwy after a nice spate.

Very well tied flies. What type of tube did you use?

Thanks RS. I used Veniard's Scandanavian Tubing.
You get a pack of the liner tube with some sleeve tube. Like you, I think it is better to tie on the liner and just use the sleeve on the butt for holding the hook.
