Murthly Special as tyed by Duncan Egan in June 2004 flyfishing and flytying magazine.
thread :red
tail: orange bucktail with three strands of mirage accent on top.
rib:oval gold
rear body: flat gold holographic
front body: black floss
beard:orange bucktail and blue guinea over
wing: yellow dyed squirrel with few strands of mirage accent on top
cheeks[optional]:jungle cock
head: red silk coated in clear varnish

The original,tied by Tony Black of Murthly No 2,to me looked like a Munroe Killer with a ,load of silver twinkly stuff as an over wing ,Help ma bob was he upset when I said that to him,I have seen several tyings of it but none like his own tying of it !!!! In Duncan's article on the Special he mention it's basic similarity to the Allys Shrimp Tony went aff his nut,I kid you not. The original is very good on Grilse,but then,what "orangy " fly isnt.
