i've been tying up some Willie Gunns. I know how well this catches fish but to be honest, it's not the most inspiring fly is it? So i came up with this. Tied with boar bristles, in a shrimpy stylie, but still with the same profile as the Willie Gunn. It's probably been done before, if it has, let me know the name. I like the look of this one. Comments please! Cheers I might add, i've not varnished the head yet so they still look a wee bit messy

How about a WG Pig for your new fly.
Looks good.

I'm sure i saw something called a WG pig somewhere. It seems everything with a bit of black/orange and yellow gets called a WG something or other. It's a gold body, ribbed with silver wire, you can't really see it in the oicture. Shines through nicely under the light. I'll need to see it in the water before i'm convinced but i think it's got potential

Added some ammo to the machine gunner in the form of Jungle cock cheeks. Can't wait to try it out/loose it up a tree! Think it looks even better with the cheeks. Any thoughts?

That's a nice looking fly. I like them like this, it's got a good "lively" look to it.

Looks good - like a cross between a WG and a Tosh, two of the best spring flies around IMO.

Tayspringer, is the head hackle green & black ? looks like green on my screen, although your description does say yellow/black.
Granters, your version will work well on the Leven during May for the springers.
Both versions look really good. I think I may well have to tie a few up.

Both flies, Granters' and Tayspringer's, have the shape and style I like in a fly. There's no doubt both will do well. Keep it up lads, well done.
