Can someone post a picture of an original tadpole fly in tube form? I've seen the thread in fly patterns but its not really close up and the thread is more abour Collie Dogs. In the Flies of Scotland book, Headley features a silver bodied version but I don't htink that's hte original. Any fishing tips etc would, as ever, be appreciated

I think this is the original but I'm not really sure. The rib may be wrong and possibly the yellow wing is a bit sparse. Front half of the body is red (not come out well on the photo). Feel free to correct me Andy

I have no idea how you are supposed to fish it, thats the first one I've ever tied! Better give it a swim now though Andy

Saw a fish caught at Commonty on Saturday with the angler using one of these. Will give it a go.

I had three salmon from the cheap bit of Amat on the Carron in late august 92 ,all came to floating line and ally tube tadpoles the tube was 1.25 " dressing maybe 2.5",also took odd spring fish down at Gledfeild in earlier years on intermediate and wet 2s much larger dressings all fished fairly slow .
