Has anyone ever tried to dye capes or materials with picric acid? Any ideas where I could obtain some of this chemical?

i don't but i know you have to be very careful with it for your own health. Heard mutterings about it being carcinogenic. Someone will no doubt know a lot more than me

I have dyed the silver mallard with just cooking ingredients such as"salt, vinegar, & turmeric powder". The results were very good and long lasting, I also did it with "amherst pheasant". I used the bottom off a large coke bottle and put the material in with hot water,[not boiling] otherwise the bottle will melt. Like everything else its trial and error and with practice over the winter months it can be acheived.....
