Anyone seen one of these flies? I've read it's doing well on the Dee.
If anyone has one of these, could you post the pattern or a picture or both?

Its got to be a Sunray varient of some kind i would have thought. Got some Norway fishers at Aboyne this week and looking at last seasons catches most were made on the Apa - again a sunray varient.

The Monkey.. I saw this on the Somers report today and I ended up surfing the net for half an hour or so to see if I could find a pic, no luck If these Norwegians are all fishing 'The Monkey' then I suppose they will have success. Just look at the comment made by Kenny regarding the post about the 25lb Salmon that was caught. He made the comment that 60% of his fish have been taken on the GWG, which is a popular fly at this time of year. That's what keeps fly fishing interesting, as soon as we all hear about a new pattern most of us change from what was a WG, then the Ally's and now the Cascade and of course the sunray now has a place in most fly boxes.

On ADAA website, Colin from Somers says he's got a monkey fly. I'll try to get hold of him and get a photo unless someone gets there first!

Spoke to David Craik from Somers on Saturday. He said that the Monkey fly is similar to a Sunray Shadow, using real Monkey hair and the only real difference is in the addition of Jungle cock cheeks. Cheers Graham Are they fishing it on a sinker or intermediate fast and deep?

Cheers Graham Are they fishing it on a sinker or intermediate fast and deep? Sorry, forgot to ask. I thought it would too fast for cold water fishing even on a sinker and too high in the water if fishing a floater Any thoughts?

This is my version of the "Monkey Shadow" Tube: Plastic or Silver Brass tube Hackle: Yellow Slappen or Hen Hackle Wing: Strip of Monkey(Colobus) tied in as a Zonker strib with some ostrich hjerl and some Peacock Angel Hair Cheeks: Jungle cock Head: Black I tie it with 5 to 15 cm long wing. What special with the Monkey hair(Colobus Monkey) is that it kinks when its get into the water. As a sub. you can use Goat or Polar Bear hair in good quality

Excellent Thanks for that. Two questions: 1. Can you source me some monkey hair? 2. How do you fish it in the spring? Intermediate/sinking line fished deep but a bit faster than a standard tube?
