Where can I purchase thin aluminium tubes. The ones I usually use are made by Veinards and are, in my opinion, too thick for late spring/summer flies but I've seen some flies with very thin aluminium tubes and I'd like to use these. Thanks

Hi DAZ They do the slipstream in plastic, stout plastic, aluminium, and copper, they also do ultra fine hard nylon tubing, it has a 1.34mm diameter, this is clear in colour for tiny bodied tubes . The mag says its ideal for tiny sea trout flies. I assume this is for the body of the tube not the lining but I can't imagine a tube that thin You will be able to find out for sure by emailing mchardys@fsmail.net. Hope this helps. Mike

Thanks Mike I know you can source micro tubing,John Gray as posted some links in the past to some outlets, but I have never come across tackle shops selling tubes with a smaller diameter than the slipstream....Not down my way anyway. DAZ.

Veniard 'Slipstream' aluminium tubes are 2.4mm diameter or 0.24cm in sloggi units For those of us who work in Imperial measurments, rather than those horrid french things, 0.097" Andy

Try model shops. They stock tubes in various diameters in brass ,copper, aluminium and plastic. Mike The stuff in my local model shop is indenticle to the stuff slipstream tubes are made off but of course without the plastic liner. Does anybody know where I can get very thin plastic tube to line the model shop stuff with. It would have to be 1/16th of an inch (1.5mm) outside diameter. Andy

Hi Andy, McHardys of Carlisle sell all kinds of liner tubing including 1.5mm external. It is sold by the metre and very cheap.

Cheers. I've already got 12 feet of ally tubing so once I've got the liner I shouldn't have to buy another slipstream one agian!
