Hello lads, Thought I'd share this wee tip with you if you need a simple tying platfrom that will sit across your legs on almost any chair. I got sick of tying on a table (usually in another room from the rest of the family) so decided to make a portable makeshift bench. I had an old chopping board in the garage, sanded it down, gave it 4 or 5 coats of good marine varnish and drilled out the access recess for my vice to sit in. I had to invert the g-clamp to stop it snagging on my leg but i suppose a pedestal base would be even better? Anyway, I can now sit on the couch and tie away to my hearts content while keeping the rest of the clan happy....well almost!! I am going to drill out some holes and fit a dowel rail for threads and tools etc but I suppose it can be customised to anyones preference. You may have seen similar before but thought I'd post it anyway. Cheers CB

That's a great idea CB, i've been trying to get something like this for ages so i can sit in comfort rather than stooped over a table in a dark corner somewhere. The good thing about your idea is that you'll need to tidy it too, i've got a terrible habit of setting out to tie up some patterns, getting bored and starting something else. If your anything like me, it leaves the place in a state. Good idea mate

That would be very convenient for tying flys whilst on fishing holidays too
