With a trip to the Lochy imminent, I finally managed to dig out my fly tying gear after the house move had consigned it to boxes (lots of them at the bottom of a cupboard One of my favourite flys for the summer months is the Black Sheep. I don't see this being widely used in Scotland although the Dee Sheep (another personal favourite) is a popular fly on the Dess beats on the Dee, often tied on micro tubes for low water use. Anyway I'd be interested if there are any other "sheep" fans out there - cue series of jokes from MacD ;D

Anyway I'd be interested if there are any other "sheep" fans out there - cue series of jokes from MacD ;D ;D four days on and I still havent come up with a new one or even a new old one yet........baaaah! But I have unearthed new evidence that fly fishing and sheep indiscretions may be linked. The dubbing for a Tup's Indispensible could be a new twist in the tale. Why anyone would think of the ball sack of a sheep as a source must be suspicious. Stan Headley refers to this in flies of scotland "...(while)harvesting the correct shade of wool from the dangly bits of a ram might be regarded as a dodgy enterprise. And then some . lovely fly splash. Ive never tried them, but looks the part. what is the dressing? reminds be a bit of the arndilly fancy. Macd

Nice fly and thanks for not finding any new sheep jokes The fly would look good with the blue and yellow exchanged. Good idea, I agree and will tie some up. Gave the fly in the photo a good swim on the Lochy this week. It seemed good for half pound broonies but no salmo. However that particular affliction applied to every fly tried by everyone - pretty brutal stuff although CLaG managed to contive to lose both the fish that were present in the river this morning in an action packed 5 mins when we fished at the top of the tide

Nice fly and thanks for not finding any new sheep jokes The fly would look good with the blue and yellow exchanged. Sea trout reversed version for my trip to the Dee later this week. Lets hope it brings more sucess than its salmon sized parent did on the Lochy Will report back whether this version, hatched by Sloggi's idea gets its christening on a Dee sea trout or even better big summer salmon cheers Splash
