Ok,... so for a while I have been thinking about opening myself up to criticism...... but if you don't ask,... then you don't learn... So here goes, and hopefully this will encourage others to post their handywork, even if we can't meet the heady heights of Easky, Macd, G Ritchie et al.......(Respect!) This is my first batch of gold heads, I struggle to get the gold head to neatly meet the rest of the dressing,... some whipping is always visible. I would appreciate all comments (tho I appreciate it isn't the best photo), constructive criticism especially appreciated! In particular with respect to the dressings of my attempt at a Willie Gun, to light or too heavy? Which ones (if any!) would you fancy? Cheers F

If I was a salmon I'd take them all The first two templedogs are maybe a bit heavy in the wing and I don't like them with a beard (hackle or hair) but that is just my personal preference. The willie gunns are fine. The first one just needs the hair spread a bit more evenly and the second one may have been better with finer hair, it looks like you have used fairly course bucktail which I don't think looks right when tied sparse and long. That said I know folk who use sea trout flies with not a quater of that amount of stuff in the wing. Bloody hell, who do I think I am telling people how to tye their flies Andy

nice work fenton my only suggestion would be to try for a more pronounced taper in the wing. Each layer of hair should be progressively longer- this will give the wing a nice wiggle in the water.
