These are a few pics (not very good sorry) of some old flees that my grandad tied - must be 40-50 (or more) years ago now... Interesting apart from a couple to see how sparse they are and also the use of wire on the bodies.. There is nothing smaller in the box (other than trout flies - and its interesting to see how these seem to be very small and sparse compared to some of the flies around these days) - all the salmon flies seen to be this sort of large size hook - 2?? - some were on two fly casts. He fished mainly on the Tweed and I dont ever remember him coming back empty handed- in fact I remember at certain times of the year the sink in the kitchen would be full of sea trout and salmon (the days before anyone worried about conservation) I might tie up some like these on doubles when I get going on tying just to see...

Love numbers 2 and 4, the last one looks like a Stoats Tail?. You could frame them for the "Rod Room"

the last one is a Stoats - was written on the back of an old permit that it was stuck into along with the date of tying - which was the day I was born!!
Will be getting a frame made up for them and displayed in "new" rod room - along with the trout ones which are also nice to have....
